John Hunter Sprint Regatta 2012

Once again, the men and women of Alabama Crew had a sucessful weekend at the John Hunter Regatta. We have maintained our Novice 8+ winning streak and for the 4th year running won gold in the Novice 8+ category! Congratulations to Scott Burdick, Evan Corder, Mitch Wolfe, Reed Phillips, Guy Able, Kyle Nikonchuk, Clay Turner, Richard Mullikan, and Chloe Morre on their great effort! The Novice 4+ placed 3rd in their flight as well.

Overall, this weekend was success and a great experience! Row Tide!

2012 Aiken Sprints Invitational Results

The Varsity and Novice men attended the Aiken County Sprints Invitational this weekend after a long week of spring training. Starting on Tuesday afternoon, the team went to work and began refining their rowing technique through the grueling 3-a-day practices. After 3 days of training, they traveled to Aiken, South Carolina and raced extremely well.

South East Indoor Sprints Championship 2012

On January 28th, 2012 the Men’s Rowing Team competed in the South East Indoor Rowing Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  The team competed in the Novice, Varsity, Never-ever, Coxswain, Team Relay, and 500m Dash categories.  Overall, we walked away with almost a dozen medals.  Rowers and their events medaled in are listed below:

 

1. Tyler Bartlett – Bronze, 500m Coxswain Dash

2. Scott Burdick – Silver, Novice 2k / Bronze, Team Relay

3. Clay Turner – Silver, 500m Open

4. Taylor Linville –Bronze, Team Relay

5. Chloe Moore –Bronze, Team Relay

6. Sarah Axley – Bronze, Team Relay

7. Tom Ostby –Bronze, Team Relay

8. Matt Hennigan – Silver, LtWt 500m Dash

9. Erik Glynn – Silver, Men’s Collegiate Open 2k / Bronze, Team Relay

 

Right now, the team is preparing for water practices.  They are working hard on school work and staying diligent in their workouts.  We’re almost ready for racing season.  Row Tide!

Rent-A-Rower

Interested in helping out Alabama Crew, but also getting a little in return? Take a look at our fundraiser Rent-A-Rower. Or, if you already know what you're looking for, get in touch with us through our Rent-A-Rower Interest Form, and we'll get back in touch with you as soon as possible. Scheduled dates for the semester will be determined later, but don't hesitate to contact us now. We will be more than glad to work with you to find a date that is suitable for both parties.

Prospective Members

Interested in being on the river, competing, staying active, being part of a team, traveling, or meeting some cool people? Then the Alabama Men's Crew Team may be for you. As a team member, you'll be on the river or hanging out at the boathouse every morning or afternoon, or taking long trips to cities like Boston, Augusta, and Philadelphia to race other crew teams.
